A Thriving Unified Digital Experience Built on Drupal
When America’s Credit Unions, a new entity formed from the merger of CUNA and NAFCU, needed a unified platform to represent its cohesive brand and provide value to its members, they trusted us to bring the new brand, content strategy, and visual design system to life with the best the Drupal DXP has to offer.
America’s Credit Unions (ACU) is the unified voice for over 140 million credit union members across the nation. Created through the merger of two premier organizations, CUNA and NAFCU, ACU actively advocates for credit unions at the local, state, and federal levels, empowering them to thrive in a rapidly changing financial landscape.
However, merging two powerhouse organizations presented a unique set of challenges. ACU needed a modern, intuitive, and high-performing website to serve as a central hub for their diverse audience while effectively showcasing their brand's cohesive identity. They required a digital platform that didn’t just host content but also provided engaging, personalized member experiences that adapted to evolving user needs.
A UNION OF UX, DESIGN AND DRUPAL
By partnering closely with ACU’s internal UX team, we were able to analyze proposed designs for feasibility within the Drupal platform. Visual striking, varied, and needing to accommodate a variety of media types, the design system showed a lot of potential, but also unnecessary overlap.
By taking a do-more-with-less approach, we successfully reduced 60+ design components to a streamlined system of just half that number. We utilized Drupal’s Layout Builder combined with our proprietary Kinetic theme to translate these design components into adaptable content blocks.
This approach ensured that each component offered flexibility for administrators while safeguarding the sophisticated, unified brand design.
INTEGRATING PEOPLE AND PLATFORMS
Leveraging our expertise in building personalized experiences, we integrated Drupal with ACU’s Association Management Software (AMS) system, Nimble. Using Single Sign-On (SSO) powered by Okta, the platform can recognize member accounts, simplify login processes, and customize content based on individual preferences.
Acquia’s Digital Asset Management (DAM) system helps ACU store and manage media files more efficiently, while also becoming one of the first organizations to leverage Acquia Convert powered by VWO, which enables site-wide personalization and sophisticated targeting, ensuring that ACU’s website remains ahead of the curve in providing meaningful member experiences.
The newly developed Drupal CMS provides a seamless, intuitive workflow for content management, ensuring branding consistency while allowing for future growth. The site excels in speed and performance, passing Google's PageSpeed Insights tests on all devices. As pioneers in personalization, ACU, an early adopter of Acquia Convert, is now poised to be a leader in hyper-customized member experiences in the finserv sector.
